The Livingston Town Committee is meeting Tuesday, September 8,
2009 @ 8PM at the Community Center, 204 Hillside Ave, for FINAL VOTE
on their "HOUSING ELEMENT AND FAIR SHARE PLAN" published August 18th. The
report was passed by the Livingston Planning Board on their
September 1st meeting.
The plan can be downloaded at
<http://www.livingstonnj.org/
Of particular interest to Livingston residents is Livingston's intent to
purchase the "Squiretown Properties", subject to a builder's remedy lawsuit, for
construction of a Public Works facility (pg. 9), removing this property from the
tax rolls in the face of large anticipated affordable housing obligations.
Meanwhile, recognizing the environmental constraints on the 4.3
acre TMB/Tutor Time property and a restraining sewer agreement with Millburn,
has proposed to rezone the property for 70 dwelling units to (close to 30 units
per net acre) (pgs. 52-54), yielding 14 affordable dwelling units.
The report also indicates interest (pg.68 &+) in developing the easternmost part
of the Livingston Mall (adjacent to the Coventry Section) with an estimated 195
units of inclusionary housing.
We strongly suggest that you attend this meeting and voice your interests
against these inclusionary projects.
